The developer’s Update 3 log (Discord), pets and Expedition Shop part, as scrolled through by ItzMythz at 12:10.
Paraphrasing the log: pets are permanent, they follow you around and give passive bonuses, Bond makes those bonuses stronger and opens substats, Spirit Prisms reroll one substat at a time, and spare copies become Pet Essence. The Expedition Shop (paid with Expedition Points) lists Pet Whistles and Spirit Prisms among its items.
How to get a pet
- Open the Spirit Expedition window. Talk to the Spirit Guide in the lobby. The difficulty screen has a HOW TO GET PETS button under the START button. Full run steps are on the Spirit Expedition guide.
- Start on Adventurer and get past Stage 5. The help screen tells you to pick Adventurer and clear the first five stages.
- Look for a Spirit Den. After Stage 5, each eligible room has a 15% chance to turn into a Den, with a cap of 2 Dens per run.
- Choose TAME when you reach the Den. You get one free try per Den. A successful tame adds the pet to your collection for good.
- Find it in the PETS tab of your Inventory (the menu that also has CLASS INFO, STAT INFO, Titles and Item Index). Press EQUIP to use it.

Spirit Dens, Pet Whistles and Spirit Treats
| Thing | What it does (paraphrased from the help screen) |
|---|---|
| Spirit Den | Can appear in eligible rooms after Stage 5, 15% chance per room, 2 Dens per run at most |
| Pet Whistle | Bought in the REWARDS tab; makes sure the next Den appears; it is used up on its own, no button needed |
| TAME | One free attempt each time you meet a Den |
| Spirit Treat | Raises the tame chance by 15% |
The help screen does not print the base tame chance, so the starting odds before a Spirit Treat are not known. softspokenpets sums it up while reading the screen: a treat helps but does not promise a tame (3:06).
Bottom of the help screen with the duplicates, Okami Cub and capsule notes. Gameplay capture from softspokenpets at 2:52.
Companion Capsules
Capsules you own are opened from PETS → PET ITEMS. Two kinds appear on screen, each with its odds printed under it:
| Capsule | Slime | Fox Spirit | Hawk | Wolf Pup | Wisp |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Companion Capsule | 45% | 20% | 20% | 8% | 7% |
| Rare+ Companion Capsule | — | 36.36% | 36.36% | 14.55% | 12.73% |
The panel shortens the names to Fox and Wolf. Okami Cub is in neither list. The Rare+ capsule appears in the contents of two Expedition bundles; where the plain Companion Capsule comes from is not shown on screen (NotScoobz says he bought his at 6:14–6:36).
PET ITEMS screen with both capsules and their odds. Gameplay capture from NotScoobz at 6:56.

Which pet for which build
Pick by the main bonus. It is the same on every copy of a pet seen so far; only the substats change:
- Physical classes: Wolf Pup (Physical damage and Move speed). Frost God says he runs Wolf Pup on his physical class (0:42).
- Magic classes: Wisp (Cooldown reduction and Magic damage). NotScoobz equips Wisp for his magic build (7:38).
- Ranged builds: Hawk (Ranged damage and Move speed).
- Skill-heavy builds: Fox Spirit (Skill damage).
- Extra health: Slime (Max HP), or Okami Cub (Max HP and Damage) if you get one.
Substats
Each pet panel has four substat rows under the main bonus. How many of them can ever open depends on rarity, going by the panels above:
| Rarity | Rows open at Bond 1 | Rows that open later | Rows marked “Unavailable at this rarity” |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 1 | none | 3 |
| Rare | 1 | 1 at Bond 5 | 2 |
| Epic | 1 | 1 at Bond 5, 1 at Bond 10 | 1 |
| Legendary | Still unknown (only seen at Bond 5, with 2 open) | 1 at Bond 10, 1 at Bond 15 | 0 |
Substats roll randomly per copy. The same pet shows different substats in different clips:
| Pet | Substats seen | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Slime | Vitality +3.8% (Bond 1); Mobility +2.6% (Bond 4); Power +1.5% (Bond 1) | NotScoobz 7:32; softspokenpets 2:08; ItzMythz 0:35 |
| Fox Spirit | Haste +1.8% (Bond 1); Skill Power +2.7% with Power +2.3% (Bond 9) | NotScoobz 7:14; ItzMythz 0:32 |
| Hawk | Skill Power +2.1%; Mobility +2.5% | NotScoobz 7:38; ItzMythz 0:24 |
| Wolf Pup | Haste +1.7%; Mobility +2.6% | softspokenpets 2:12; NotScoobz Bond 1 panel (see the four-panel image above) |
| Wisp | Skill Power +1.3%; Mobility +2.7% | softspokenpets 2:07; NotScoobz 7:44 |
| Okami Cub | Power +2.9% with Vitality +3.9% (Bond 5) | softspokenpets 2:33 |
Bond
Bond is the pet’s level, from 1 to 20. Raising it makes the main bonus bigger and opens substat rows at Bond 5, 10 and 15 (which of those a pet gets depends on its rarity, see the table above).
Bond +1 button. Every panel has a Bond +1 · 25 button. NotScoobz presses it on Wisp at Bond 1: the panel moves to Bond 2, the main bonus rises from 2.4% to 2.5% Cooldown reduction and from 1.8% to 1.9% Magic damage, and his Pet Essence counter drops from 255 to 230, so one press used 25 Essence (7:44–7:50).
Wisp at Bond 1 (left) and Bond 2 (right). Gameplay captures from NotScoobz at 7:44 and 7:50.
Bond XP bar. Each panel also shows a Bond XP bar. Values seen:
| Bond level | Bond XP bar on screen | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0 / 3 (one official TikTok card shows 1 / 3) | NotScoobz 7:14–7:44; @dungeon.lootr TikTok 0:19 |
| 2 | 0 / 3 | NotScoobz 7:50 |
| 4 | 0 / 4 | softspokenpets 2:08 |
| 5 | 2 / 4 | softspokenpets 2:33 |
| 9 | 4 / 6 | ItzMythz 0:32 |
How Bond XP is earned is not shown. Neither is how the XP bar relates to the Bond +1 button.
Main bonus growth. Slime goes from 3.0% Max HP at Bond 1 to 3.3% at Bond 4, Fox Spirit from 3.0% Skill damage at Bond 1 to 3.8% at Bond 9, and Wisp gains 0.1 on each line from Bond 1 to 2. That looks like +0.1 percentage point per Bond level (not confirmed), but no screen states it as a rule.
Fox Spirit at Bond 9, the highest Bond level seen so far. Gameplay capture from ItzMythz at 0:32.
Spirit Prisms (reroll)
- Every pet panel has a Reroll · 1 Prism button, the same cost on every rarity seen.
- Per the log, a reroll changes one substat, not the whole set.
- One substat row on each panel is highlighted with a › arrow; whether that is the row a Reroll changes is not shown.
- Where to get Prisms: the Expedition Shop (log) and Expedition bundles. For codes, check the codes page.
Pet Essence (duplicates and Convert)
- Duplicates. The help screen says a spare copy turns into Pet Essence unless you pick KEEP. The PETS tab has a Duplicates: ESSENCE button for that setting.
- Convert. Each panel has a Convert button whose Essence value goes up with rarity:
| Rarity | Convert button |
|---|---|
| Common | 10 Essence |
| Rare | 25 Essence |
| Epic | 60 Essence |
| Legendary | 150 Essence |
- No clip shows Convert being pressed, so it is not confirmed whether the value is paid to you or charged.
- The Convert button looks dimmed on pets that are equipped or locked (equipped: Fox Spirit, Wisp at Bond 2; locked: Okami Cub (also equipped), and a Wisp at softspokenpets 2:07).
- Spending it. One Bond +1 press costs 25 Essence (see Bond).
The PETS tab (COMPANIONS 4/30) with Wolf Pup selected, and the Duplicates: ESSENCE, PET ITEMS and GET PETS buttons. Gameplay capture from softspokenpets at 2:12.
Okami Cub
- Rarity: Legendary, the only Legendary pet seen.
- How to get it: the log says gameplay-only; the help screen calls it a rare boss reward. Okami is the boss of Spirit Expedition (see the Okami section). softspokenpets adds that it is not guaranteed from an ordinary Den (3:06).
- At Bond 5: +2.7% Max HP and +2.7% Damage, substats Power +2.9% and Vitality +3.9%, two more rows at Bond 10 and 15, Convert value 150 Essence.
- Not in either capsule’s odds list.
Okami Cub, equipped, at Bond 5. Gameplay capture from softspokenpets at 2:33.
Pet storage and other buttons
- Storage: the list header reads COMPANIONS 4 / 30 (softspokenpets 2:12), 0 / 30 (NotScoobz 6:56) and 6 / 80 (ItzMythz 0:32). The Spirit Collector Bundle card lists 50 pet storage slots, and its small print says storage, look and title are bundle-only (softspokenpets 3:28). See the Spirit Expedition guide for the bundles.
- EQUIP / UNEQUIP: each clip shows one pet marked EQUIPPED at a time.
- LOCK / UNLOCK: on every panel; Okami Cub (and the softspokenpets Wisp at 2:07) show UNLOCK, so they were locked at the time. What locking blocks is not explained on screen.
- GET PETS: a button under the pet list in the PETS tab.
Still unknown
- Base tame chance before a Spirit Treat, and where Spirit Treats come from.
- Which rooms count as “eligible” for a Spirit Den.
- How Bond XP is earned, and how the XP bar ties in with the Bond +1 button.
- Whether Bond +1 costs 25 at every level, and the total cost to reach Bond 20.
- Main bonus and substats at Bond 10, 15 and 20.
- Okami Cub’s drop rate and which difficulty or stage it drops on.
- Whether Convert pays out or charges Essence, and what LOCK prevents.
- Whether more than one pet can be equipped at once.
- Where the plain Companion Capsule is sold or earned.
- The full list of substat types (seen so far: Haste, Mobility, Vitality, Power, Skill Power) and their value ranges.
- ItzMythz has four Hawk copies while the Duplicates button reads ESSENCE; the clips do not explain why.
